Still Using Your Routers Default Password? Better Change It
So you’re a sys admin and you’re at a clients place of business and you’re setting up their new Cisco router and wireless base station when suddenly everything does a hard reset and you’re left looking at the default login screen. Grab the manual and look up the default password that came with the router? You would but your 12 year old assistant (aka Cousin Mikey) threw the instructions out with the box.

Have no fear though your job and the account are safe. GovernmentSecurity.org has posted a list of the most common routers, switches and wireless base stations. The list includes Cisco, Linksys, Dlink, Microsoft, 3com, Altel and my favorite that I have no idea what it is or who sells it, School Girl.
Don’t worry. The information on the list is in the public domain and if you ask me it’s a pretty damn good reminder why you (and your clients if you’re a sys admin) need to change your password from the default password that comes with your box.
